“CTRU 180” by Chris Trueman

$9,500

Chris Trueman’s dynamic new work utilizes experimental processes that result in wavering structures, which are constructed by layering positive and negative spaces which creates a perfect stage for brushstrokes that are big and fearless. Trueman creates dynamic exploration of surfaces. Painting primarily on Yupo, a synthetic paper whose nonabsorbent surface allows him to remove areas of pigment to paint through additive and subtractive processes , creating intricate spaces in which negative expressive gestures give visibility to underlying form and color. When these actions are central to the composition, the fixed motions recall calligraphy of the Far East, a frozen moment within the action of making.

Composition: Acrylic and Acrylic Spray Paint on Yupo mounted on board in an artist’s frame.

Dimensions: 51-1/2″W x 60-1/2″
